Rare and Desirable Stoneware Jar by George Fulton with Cobalt Decoration
Allegany County VA Circa: 1865 Signed “G. N. F.” in script at the base of the front. Fulton decorated primarily with brown, manganese slip as cobalt had become scarce and more expensive in the South at the time he was working. Cobalt decorated pots by this potter are considerably harder to find. Pleasing floral decoration.
In excellent condition with only a very faint hairline at the base of the rear and bottom of the jar.
9 1/4” tall
